When a second opinion helps
People ask for a second reading of their imaging for very ordinary reasons. All of these are good ones.
An unclear or worrying result
The report used words you did not understand, or left you more anxious than informed.
Conflicting advice
Two clinicians have told you different things and you want an independent view.
Before consenting to surgery or treatment
A second reading of the imaging before a big decision.
Scanned abroad
You have images and a report in another language or from a system you cannot easily follow up.
You simply want certainty
A specialist eye on a scan that was reported by a generalist.

Secure upload
DICOM files or the export from your provider’s portal, through our encrypted transfer link.
CD, DVD or USB
Bring or post the disc your clinic gave you. We return it.
In person
Drop in with your images and we copy them while you wait.
Previous reports
Always include the original report if you have it; our consultant reads it, then reads the images independently.
How it works: three steps
Tell us what was scanned and what you want to know, then upload, post or bring your images.
ten minutes
Your case is matched to a consultant radiologist who specialises in that body area and modality.
within 5 working days
A written report on your portal, a plain-English summary, and the option of a call to talk it through.
plus a defined next stepWhat you receive
What you receive: an extract from a real report, anonymised. Your report also comes with a plain-English summary and the option of a call with the consultant who wrote it.
Every report has these four parts, in this order, in plain English, and ends with what to do next.
Who reviews your imaging
Second opinions are not read by whoever is free. Each case goes to a consultant radiologist whose subspecialty matches the scan, musculoskeletal, breast, head and neck, body or urological, all holding NHS consultant posts at London teaching hospitals.

Before you submit
Gather what you have
The images (disc, USB or portal export), the original report, and any letters from the clinician who requested the scan.
Write down your question
The more specific the better: “Is surgery really necessary?” gets a more useful answer than “Please review.”
Check the images are complete
A disc should contain the full series, not just a few pictures. If in doubt, send it anyway. We will tell you.
Consent
We only review imaging that is yours or that you have authority to share.
Questions, answered
Anything else? Call 0203 904 4441, a real person answers, and a clinician can call you back.
DICOM is ideal and is what every scanner produces. Most clinics can give you a disc or a download link. We also accept JPEG or PDF exports, although a full DICOM series allows a more thorough review.
Five working days from receiving complete images. An urgent 48-hour review is available for an additional fee.
With your permission, yes. We send the report to any clinician you name, and our consultants are happy to discuss findings with them directly.
Not at all. DICOM is universal. If the original report is in another language, include it anyway; our consultant reads the images independently.
We say so, clearly and respectfully, and explain why. Disagreement is not unusual: it is the reason second opinions exist, and the report sets out what you should do about it.
