How to get here from Bloomsbury
Bloomsbury to Harley Street is a straight literary line: out past Bedford Square, through Fitzrovia along New Cavendish Street, and into the medical district.
From the British Museum, leave via Bedford Square, cross Tottenham Court Road onto Percy or Windmill Street, climb to the BT Tower, and join New Cavendish Street. It runs west, arrow-straight, all the way to our corner of Harley Street. Twenty-six minutes, most of them pleasant.
Bloomsbury’s households: university staff, publishers, lawyers from the Inns’ western edge, tend to research before they book. Good: our consultants’ NHS appointments (UCLH, King’s, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital) are listed on this page, every price is published, and the second-opinion service exists precisely for people who want a stated finding checked.
If you are attached to UCL or one of the hospitals on the Euston Road, the practical point is simpler still: we are the fast, walkable imaging option when a waiting list is measured in months and your question is measured in days.
On foot from the British Museum, about 26 minutes
Out past Bedford Square, across Tottenham Court Road, up through Fitzrovia to the BT Tower, then New Cavendish Street west, one straight road to the Harley Street corner.
On foot from Russell Square: about 30 minutes
Via Montague Place and Bedford Square, then the same line west. Or cut it short: Russell Square to Warren Street is one stop’s walk, and Warren Street to us is fourteen minutes.
From Warren Street station: about 14 minutes
South down Cleveland Street to the BT Tower, then New Cavendish Street west. Victoria and Northern line territory: often the smart route from the squares.
By taxi: about 8 minutes
Ask for 99 Harley Street at the Weymouth Street corner; from Great Russell Street the fare is usually under £12. The clinic is inside the Congestion Charge zone.
Reading this from a UCL office? You are closer than the map suggests. Call 0203 904 4441 and reception will find the slot that fits between lectures.

Why Bloomsbury comes to us
Bloomsbury asks better questions than most neighbourhoods: who exactly reads my scan, what are their appointments, what does the evidence say. We like those questions. Every scan here is performed or reported by a named consultant radiologist or specialist sonographer whose NHS posts are stated, and our busiest service for this postcode is the formal second opinion.
Named specialists, stated posts
UCLH, King’s College Hospital, the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, the same doctors who lead hospital services, identified by name on your report.
The second-opinion habit
Bring imaging you already have: NHS or private, from anywhere, and a subspecialty consultant re-reads it formally, in writing, usually within five working days.
Faster than the waiting list
For UCLH and Euston Road patients between NHS appointments: a scan this week, a written report the same day, and everything shareable with your hospital team.
What we scan
Browse by area of the body. Each hub lists every scan we offer, with one fixed price per page.
Searching from WC1: a private ultrasound near Bloomsbury, a second opinion on a scan you already have, an appointment that fits between the library and a seminar? Harley Street Ultrasound Group covers every area of the body from one CQC-registered clinic at 99 Harley Street, a straight walk west along New Cavendish Street.
The scans Bloomsbury books most: thyroid and neck ultrasound for lumps found in the mirror, liver and abdominal scans, pelvic and ovarian ultrasound, breast checks, musculoskeletal scans for library shoulders and cycling knees, and the formal second-opinion review of existing imaging that this neighbourhood asks for more than any other.
Everything is consultant-led, priced openly from £160, and explained before you leave, with the written report on your portal the same day, citations available on request.
What people around Bloomsbury search for
Popular from Bloomsbury
Bloomsbury’s bookings, in order of frequency. Each with a fixed price and a named consultant.
The WC1 pattern is distinctive: fewer impulse bookings, more considered ones, a lump watched for a fortnight and then researched, a set of NHS images carried in for a formal re-read, a symptom checked against the literature before the appointment is made.
We meet that on its own terms: named specialists, published prices, written reports you can quote. And when the evidence says you don’t need a scan at all, the clinician on the phone will tell you that too.
Who scans you
Every clinician at 99 Harley Street is GMC-registered with NHS consultant appointments you can verify, UCLH, King’s College Hospital, the RNOH, and subspecialty interests that match what they scan. Hover over a name for the full background; bring questions, we enjoy them.

Questions, answered
Anything else? Call 0203 904 4441, a real person answers, and a clinician can call you back.
99 Harley Street, London W1G 6AQ, at the Weymouth Street corner of Harley Street, in the medical district west of Fitzrovia. From Bloomsbury the line is almost comically direct: New Cavendish Street begins at the BT Tower and ends at our block.
All routes, with honest minutes, are laid out above beside the live map.
About 26 minutes from the British Museum, thirty from Russell Square, or a little over twenty from Gordon Square, or fourteen from Warren Street station if you let the Victoria line do the first leg. The map above shows Google’s recommended route.
It is a genuinely good walk: Bedford Square, Fitzrovia’s cafés, the BT Tower, then the hush of the medical district.
Yes: it is our signature service for this neighbourhood. Send or bring your existing imaging (NHS or private, any hospital, disc or transfer link) and a subspecialty consultant formally re-reads it, producing a written report usually within five working days.
People use it before surgery, after an unclear result, or simply to be sure. Validating, not alarming, and sometimes the second reading changes the plan.
Alongside it, not instead of it. Patients from UCLH and the Euston Road hospitals use us for a scan sooner than the list allows, a follow-up their consultant wants quickly, or an independent read of existing images, and the same-day written report is yours to hand straight back to your NHS team.
We are careful about this boundary: private imaging should inform NHS care, never fragment it.
No: you book directly, online or by phone. Where a scan clinically needs a conversation first, a clinician calls you as part of the same booking.
For university staff and students far from their registered GP, that removes the usual term-time absurdity of travelling home to be referred back to London.
Often, yes: same-day and next-day appointments run across most scan types on weekdays. Call 0203 904 4441 in the morning and you can usually be scanned between lunch and the afternoon seminar.
Second opinions are the exception: those take up to five working days, because the point is a considered formal read.
Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm. Academic and publishing diaries fit the edges well, the 8am slots before the library opens, the evening ones after it closes.
Availability moves through each morning; the same-day slots go first.
Warren Street (Victoria, Northern) leaves a fourteen-minute walk; Goodge Street (Northern) about fifteen; Great Portland Street (Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan) seven. From Russell Square itself, the Piccadilly line doesn’t help, walk or take the bus along Euston Road instead.
Honestly, from most of WC1 the walk is the equal of any train once you count the escalators.
The Q-Park Harley Street car park is a few minutes’ walk, with pay-by-phone bays on Weymouth and New Cavendish Streets, and the clinic sits inside the Congestion Charge zone.
From Bloomsbury, though, driving is the one objectively wrong answer: the walk is direct and the 88 bus does the Euston Road leg if the weather argues.
No: one clinic, one address: 99 Harley Street. Concentrating the consultants, equipment and governance at a single site is what keeps the standard uniform, and Bloomsbury is a twenty-minute walk from it along one straight street.
This page exists because “near me” searches deserve an honest answer: near enough to walk, good enough to be worth it.
Yes, and please do. Your report is signed by a named consultant radiologist. Their GMC number is verifiable at gmc-uk.org, and their NHS appointments (UCLH, King’s, RNOH) are stated on this page. The person scanning you is either that consultant or a specialist sonographer working directly with them.
No anonymous reporting rooms, no outsourced reads, the name on the report was in the building.
The findings are explained during the appointment, and the written consultant report is uploaded to your secure portal the same day. Formal second opinions take up to five working days.
Reports are written to be quoted, clear findings, clear reasoning, clear next steps, because half of Bloomsbury reads them line by line, as you should.
Fixed, published prices: from £160, with most diagnostic ultrasounds between £250 and £350 including the specialist’s time and the written report. Second opinions are priced per study on their page.
All major insurers are accepted: bring your authorisation number, and there is no charge for the pre-booking conversation with a clinician.
We ask you to book first, even if that is a phone call from Bloomsbury ten minutes before you set off: it means a consultant and a room are ready for you rather than a wait. Same-day slots are released through the morning, so call 0203 904 4441, tell us what you need, and reception will usually find you a time that day.
A consultant radiologist, a doctor who specialises in imaging, or a senior specialist sonographer for pregnancy and gynaecological scans, never a trainee. The person holding the probe explains what they see as they scan, so you leave Bloomsbury-bound already knowing the findings, and the written report is theirs too.
Every scan on this website is at 99 Harley Street, so from Bloomsbury you have one address for pregnancy scans, breast ultrasound and the breast clinic, pelvic and gynaecological scans, thyroid and neck scans, abdominal and kidney scans, joint and sports injury scans, ultrasound-guided injections, and children’s scans. Each has one page and one fixed price; use the search at the top of the page or call us.
NHS waits for a routine ultrasound vary from a few weeks to several months depending on the hospital and the urgency your GP assigns. Here, same-day and next-day appointments are usually available, the findings are explained before you leave, and the report is on your portal the same day. From Bloomsbury that means a worry can be answered the day you decide to act on it.
