How to get here from Fitzrovia
Harley Street is closer to Fitzrovia than most people think, one straight road links the two. These are the directions our reception team gives over the phone.
The two neighbourhoods are joined by New Cavendish Street, a quiet, level street that begins life as Maple Street beside the BT Tower and ends at our corner of Harley Street. There is exactly one turn in the whole journey, which is why we can talk anyone in from Fitzrovia in under a minute.
Coming for a same-day scan between meetings? Allow fifteen minutes from Charlotte Street and you will arrive early. Joining from further east: Bloomsbury, Tottenham Court Road, or a UCH appointment on Euston Road, pick up New Cavendish Street at the BT Tower and simply keep walking west into the Harley Street medical district.
There is no need to arrive long before your slot: check-in takes a couple of minutes, and our waiting room is a calmer place to catch your breath than a Tube platform. If walking is not practical for you, the taxi route below is door to door.
On foot from Charlotte Street: about 15 minutes
Walk north to Maple Street (the BT Tower corner), turn left, and simply keep going: Maple Street becomes New Cavendish Street, crosses Great Portland Street and Portland Place, and meets Harley Street right by the clinic. One road, flat the whole way, no map needed.
On foot from Goodge Street station, about 15 minutes
Exit onto Tottenham Court Road, take Goodge Street west into Fitzrovia, turn right up Cleveland Street to the BT Tower, then follow New Cavendish Street west to Harley Street.
By Tube: usually not worth it
Honestly: there is no direct line from Fitzrovia, so walking is almost always faster. If you are at the northern edge, Great Portland Street station is a 7-minute walk from our door via Weymouth Street.
By taxi: about 5 minutes
Ask for 99 Harley Street, near the New Cavendish Street corner. From Charlotte Street the fare is usually under £10. The clinic is inside the Congestion Charge zone if you drive yourself.
Lost on the day? Call 0203 904 4441 and we will talk you in. It usually takes under a minute.

Why Fitzrovia comes to us
Fitzrovia works long hours: agencies on Charlotte Street, tech and production offices around Newman Street and Mortimer Street, University College Hospital on its eastern edge. What our Fitzrovia patients have in common is that they want an answer without losing half a day to get it.
The lunch-hour scan is real
Most ultrasound appointments take about 20 minutes and the sonographer or consultant explains what they see in the room. Door to door from Charlotte Street, most people are back inside the hour.
Seen at UCH and facing a wait?
Many Fitzrovia patients come to us between NHS appointments, for a scan sooner than the waiting list allows, or a consultant second opinion on imaging they already have. We report the same day and you keep the report to share with your NHS team.
Early and evening slots
We open at 8am and run until 8pm on weekdays, so a scan can sit before work or after it, not instead of it.
What we scan
Browse by area of the body. Each hub lists every scan we offer, with one fixed price per page.
If you have been searching for a private ultrasound near Fitzrovia, a pregnancy scan in W1, a breast ultrasound near Oxford Circus, or a same-day thyroid scan near Goodge Street. The answer is one street away. Harley Street Ultrasound Group covers every area of the body from a single CQC-registered clinic at 99 Harley Street, on Fitzrovia’s western doorstep.
That includes the scans central London looks for most: early pregnancy and anomaly scans, pelvic and ovarian ultrasound, breast checks and lump assessments, testicular scans, liver, kidney and abdominal ultrasound, shoulder and knee scans for desk-and-gym injuries, DVT checks, hernia scans, and children’s ultrasound with a consultant paediatric radiologist.
Every scan is performed or reported by a consultant radiologist or specialist sonographer, most take about twenty minutes, and the findings are explained before you leave, often on the same day you started searching.
What people around Fitzrovia search for
Popular from Fitzrovia
No preparation needed for any of these, come as you are, straight from the office.
These are the appointments Fitzrovia actually books: a same-day private ultrasound within walking distance of a W1T office, fitted between meetings rather than instead of them. Nothing here needs fasting or a full bladder, so a 12.30 scan booked at 11 o’clock genuinely works.
They also answer the searches we see most from this side of Portland Place, “thyroid scan near me” typed at a Charlotte Street desk, “shoulder ultrasound W1” after a Tottenham Court Road gym session, “private pelvic scan same day” when the alternative is weeks on a waiting list. One fixed price per scan, a consultant or specialist sonographer on the probe, and the findings explained before you walk back to Fitzrovia.
Who scans you
The team scanning at 99 Harley Street holds NHS consultant appointments at UCLH, King’s College Hospital and other London teaching hospitals. That matters more in Fitzrovia than almost anywhere: University College Hospital on Euston Road is the neighbourhood’s own hospital, and the calibre of specialist you would eventually see there is the same calibre you can sit in front of privately, fifteen minutes from a Charlotte Street desk, this week. Fitzrovia patients use that closeness in both directions, a first scan without the waiting list, or an expert second reading of imaging UCH has already taken. Every doctor is GMC-registered, every sonographer HCPC-registered; hover over a name to see qualifications and background.

99 Harley Street, London W1G 6AQ, at the corner where New Cavendish Street meets Harley Street, in the Harley Street medical district on Fitzrovia’s western edge. If you know Fitzrovia you already know the way: New Cavendish Street is the westward continuation of Maple Street, the road that passes the BT Tower, and it runs straight to our door.
The full walking, Tube and taxi routes, with honest minutes for each: are in the directions section above, next to the live route map.
From Charlotte Street, about 15 minutes; from the BT Tower corner, about 12; from Fitzroy Square, about 15. The whole of Fitzrovia is a flat 10–18 minute walk from the clinic. The map above shows the exact route Google recommends, straight along New Cavendish Street.
For most of Fitzrovia that makes us the nearest private ultrasound clinic with same-day appointments: Harley Street is the next neighbourhood over, not a trip across London.
Usually, yes: the lunch-hour ultrasound is one of the most common bookings we take from Fitzrovia offices. Most scans take around 20 minutes, you are seen at your appointment time, and the sonographer or consultant explains the findings while you are still in the room.
Door to door from a Charlotte Street or Newman Street desk, out-and-back inside the hour is the normal experience rather than the lucky one, and none of the popular lunch-hour scans (thyroid, neck, shoulder, testes, lumps and bumps) need any preparation at all.
No: you can book a private ultrasound directly, online or by phone, with no GP referral. For many Fitzrovia patients that is the whole point: a scan this week, on your own initiative, instead of a referral loop that takes longer than the scan itself.
Where a particular scan does need a clinical conversation first, we arrange it as part of the same booking. You are never sent away to fetch paperwork.
Often, yes. We hold same-day and next-day ultrasound appointments across most scan types on weekdays, and because Fitzrovia is a 15-minute walk away, a morning phone call genuinely can become an early-afternoon scan with the results explained the same visit.
Call 0203 904 4441 for today’s availability. It changes through the morning as slots are released.
Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday 8am to 6pm. For Fitzrovia working patterns that means a scan can sit before work, in a lunch hour, or after the office empties, not instead of your working day.
The 8am and evening slots are the quietest if you would rather not wait around, and Saturday suits anyone who cannot step away midweek.
Great Portland Street: Circle, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines, is a 7-minute walk from our door via Weymouth Street. Regent’s Park on the Bakerloo line is about 8 minutes, and Oxford Circus (Victoria, Central, Bakerloo) about 11.
From within Fitzrovia itself, honestly: walk. There is no direct line, and by the time you have changed at Oxford Circus, the straight walk along New Cavendish Street would already have you here.
The Q-Park Harley Street car park is a few minutes’ walk away, and there are pay-by-phone bays on Weymouth Street, New Cavendish Street and the surrounding mews. Do note the clinic sits inside the Congestion Charge zone.
From Fitzrovia, walking or a five-minute taxi beats driving every time, but if a family member is bringing you from further out, parking near Harley Street is genuinely workable in a way central London rarely is.
No, and honestly, we don’t need one. Harley Street Ultrasound Group has one clinic, at 99 Harley Street, a 10–18 minute walk from anywhere in Fitzrovia. One location is also why the experience is consistent: the same consultants, the same equipment, the same fixed prices, whichever neighbourhood you walk in from.
People type “ultrasound near me” at a Fitzrovia desk expecting a compromise nearby. The honest answer is that the Harley Street medical district, the highest concentration of specialist medicine in the country, is one straight road away.
Yes. Many patients under University College Hospital, Fitzrovia’s own teaching hospital: come to us between NHS appointments: for a scan sooner than the waiting list allows, for a follow-up their consultant wants quickly, or for an independent consultant second opinion on imaging UCH has already taken.
You receive a written consultant report the same day, and it is yours to share with your NHS team, private and NHS care work alongside each other here every week.
The person scanning you explains what they see before you leave the room. That is the point of a consultant-led clinic. The written consultant report is then uploaded to your secure patient portal the same day.
If anything needs acting on, we say so in plain English and set out the next step: a referral letter, an ultrasound-guided procedure, or simple reassurance you can take back to your GP or UCH team.
Every scan has one fixed price, published on its page before you book, from £160 for an early pregnancy scan, with most diagnostic ultrasounds between £250 and £350. The price includes the scan, the specialist’s time and the written consultant report; there are no hidden extras and nothing is sold to you on the day.
Paying through private health insurance works too. We see patients from all major insurers; just bring your authorisation number when you book.
We ask you to book first, even if that is a phone call from Fitzrovia ten minutes before you set off: it means a consultant and a room are ready for you rather than a wait. Same-day slots are released through the morning, so call 0203 904 4441, tell us what you need, and reception will usually find you a time that day.
A consultant radiologist, a doctor who specialises in imaging, or a senior specialist sonographer for pregnancy and gynaecological scans, never a trainee. The person holding the probe explains what they see as they scan, so you leave Fitzrovia-bound already knowing the findings, and the written report is theirs too.
Every scan on this website is at 99 Harley Street, so from Fitzrovia you have one address for pregnancy scans, breast ultrasound and the breast clinic, pelvic and gynaecological scans, thyroid and neck scans, abdominal and kidney scans, joint and sports injury scans, ultrasound-guided injections, and children’s scans. Each has one page and one fixed price; use the search at the top of the page or call us.
NHS waits for a routine ultrasound vary from a few weeks to several months depending on the hospital and the urgency your GP assigns. Here, same-day and next-day appointments are usually available, the findings are explained before you leave, and the report is on your portal the same day. From Fitzrovia that means a worry can be answered the day you decide to act on it.
