How to get here from Paddington
Paddington is the clinic’s railway station: for patients arriving from the Thames Valley, the West Country or Heathrow, the journey ends fifteen minutes after the train does.
The route is built for luggage: follow signs to the Circle and Hammersmith & City platforms, ride two stops east to Great Portland Street, and walk seven flat minutes, Marylebone Road, then down Harley Street to the Weymouth Street corner. No escalator mountains, no interchange.
That geography is why we see so many travelling patients: a scan booked around a train, a Heathrow Express connection, or a London morning that has to earn its ticket. Book the appointment for an hour after your arrival time and the maths takes care of itself, including a coffee.
If you would rather not touch the Tube, the taxi rank clears quickly and the fare to Harley Street runs about £10; W2 residents around Connaught Street and Westbourne Terrace usually treat us as a straight eight-minute cab.
By Tube: 2 stops, about 15 minutes door to door
Circle or Hammersmith & City line towards King’s Cross, alight at Great Portland Street, cross Marylebone Road and walk down Harley Street to number 99 at the Weymouth Street corner.
By taxi: about 8 minutes
From the rank at the station, ask for 99 Harley Street at the Weymouth Street corner; the fare is usually £10–£12. The clinic is inside the Congestion Charge zone.
On foot: about 33 minutes
Honest answer: it is a long walk. Sussex Gardens, across Edgware Road, along Crawford and Paddington Streets through Marylebone, then Weymouth Street east. Pleasant with time to spare, unnecessary without.
From Heathrow: about 35 minutes total
Heathrow Express to Paddington (15 minutes), then the two-stop Tube hop or a taxi. Patients fly in, scan, and fly out the same day more often than you would think.
Train delayed? Call 0203 904 4441 from the carriage, reception rebuilds the morning around your actual arrival, not the timetable’s.

Why Paddington comes to us
Half of Paddington’s patients are Londoners from W2; the other half stepped off a train. Both get the same promise: everything in one visit: the scan, the explanation, and the written consultant report on your portal before you are back on the platform.
One-visit medicine
Scan, findings explained in the room, same-day written report. No “come back next week”, because next week you are in Bristol.
Timed to the timetable
Book around your train and we hold the slot; if the railway misbehaves, we reshuffle rather than cancel.
Local for W2 too
Connaught Village, Westbourne Terrace and the canal side are an eight-minute cab or two Tube stops away, closer than most of the hospitals people default to.
What we scan
Browse by area of the body. Each hub lists every scan we offer, with one fixed price per page.
Searching “private ultrasound near Paddington” from a train, a hotel on Sussex Gardens, or a flat in W2? Harley Street Ultrasound Group covers every area of the body from one CQC-registered clinic at 99 Harley Street, two Tube stops from the platforms, with everything designed to finish in a single visit.
The scans travelling and local patients book most: abdominal and liver ultrasound, DVT leg scans after long journeys and flights, testicular scans, thyroid and neck lumps, pelvic and breast ultrasound, and musculoskeletal scans for the injuries that flare mid-trip.
Every scan is performed or reported by a consultant radiologist or specialist sonographer, most take about twenty minutes, and the report reaches your portal the same day, wherever tomorrow finds you.
What people around Paddington search for
Popular from Paddington
The one-visit favourites: no preparation needed, report the same day.
The Paddington booking has a shape: an appointment pinned to an arrival time, a scan that needs no preparation, and a result that cannot require a second trip. Everything below fits that brief: twenty minutes on the couch, findings explained immediately, written report before the return leg.
Travelling for a worry you have sat on for weeks? That is normal here. One fixed price, a consultant-led answer, and the peace of mind travels home with you.
Who scans you
The reason patients ride in from Reading and beyond: the team at 99 Harley Street holds NHS consultant appointments at UCLH, King’s and the Royal Free, London teaching-hospital medicine, two stops from the platforms. Hover over a name for background.

Questions, answered
Anything else? Call 0203 904 4441, a real person answers, and a clinician can call you back.
Two stops on the Circle or Hammersmith & City line to Great Portland Street, then a seven-minute flat walk: cross Marylebone Road, down Harley Street, and number 99 is at the Weymouth Street corner. About fifteen minutes door to door.
With luggage or without patience, the taxi rank clears fast and the fare is £10–£12.
Yes: that is the design. The scan takes about twenty minutes, the findings are explained in the room, and the written consultant report is uploaded to your portal the same day, usually within hours.
Book the appointment an hour after your train arrives and you will have time for coffee on both sides. Patients regularly come from the Thames Valley, the West Country and via Heathrow, and go home answered.
Call 0203 904 4441 from the train and we adjust. Reception holds the day loosely for travelling patients precisely because the railway is the railway. A slot can usually move by an hour without falling off the list.
Worst case, same-day availability elsewhere in the diary picks you up. Nobody who has travelled in gets turned away for GWR’s sins.
No: book directly, online or by phone, whether your GP is in London, Berkshire or abroad. That is half the point for travelling patients: no local referral loop before the trip is worth making.
Where a scan needs a clinical conversation first, it happens by phone as part of the booking, before you travel.
Often, yes: same-day and next-day slots run across most scan types on weekdays. If you are boarding a morning train, call as we open at 8am and you can usually be scanned before lunch.
For guaranteed timings around a fixed return ticket, book a day ahead and tell reception the train times. They plan around them daily.
Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm. For travellers the useful edges are the 8am starts, beating the day’s delays, and the Saturday list, which pairs a scan with a London weekend rather than a weekday off work.
Availability changes through each morning; same-day slots go first.
For consultant-led ultrasound with same-day results, almost certainly: Connaught Village and Westbourne Terrace are an eight-minute cab or two Tube stops from our door, closer in practice than crossing town to a hospital outpatient queue.
Paddington Basin’s offices treat us as their lunchtime clinic in exactly the way Fitzrovia’s do.
A weekend bag or cabin case comes into the scan room with you, patients do it every day. For anything bulkier, the left-luggage office at Paddington station is the practical answer before you get on the Tube.
Wheeled cases and the seven-minute walk from Great Portland Street get on fine; it is flat the whole way.
Yes: with your consent the written consultant report goes to any doctor you name, anywhere, the same day: your GP in Gloucestershire, your consultant in Cardiff, or simply to you to forward yourself.
Everything is also permanently on your secure portal, so nothing depends on the post.
You leave knowing exactly what and why, in writing: a plain-English report, a referral letter if one is needed, and, where the next step is something we do, like a guided injection or a follow-up scan, the option to book it before you leave for your train.
We also flag honestly when the right next step is your local NHS service, so care lands where you live.
Findings are explained during the appointment, and the written consultant report is on your secure portal the same day, typically before an afternoon train has cleared Reading.
Nothing is held back for a follow-up appointment; the answer travels with you.
One fixed price per scan, published before you book: from £160, most diagnostic ultrasounds £250–£350, always including the specialist’s time and the written report. Add a £10 Tube hop and it is still cheaper than most “near me” options at home.
All major insurers are welcome: bring your authorisation number.
We ask you to book first, even if that is a phone call from Paddington ten minutes before you set off: it means a consultant and a room are ready for you rather than a wait. Same-day slots are released through the morning, so call 0203 904 4441, tell us what you need, and reception will usually find you a time that day.
A consultant radiologist, a doctor who specialises in imaging, or a senior specialist sonographer for pregnancy and gynaecological scans, never a trainee. The person holding the probe explains what they see as they scan, so you leave Paddington-bound already knowing the findings, and the written report is theirs too.
Every scan on this website is at 99 Harley Street, so from Paddington you have one address for pregnancy scans, breast ultrasound and the breast clinic, pelvic and gynaecological scans, thyroid and neck scans, abdominal and kidney scans, joint and sports injury scans, ultrasound-guided injections, and children’s scans. Each has one page and one fixed price; use the search at the top of the page or call us.
NHS waits for a routine ultrasound vary from a few weeks to several months depending on the hospital and the urgency your GP assigns. Here, same-day and next-day appointments are usually available, the findings are explained before you leave, and the report is on your portal the same day. From Paddington that means a worry can be answered the day you decide to act on it.
