When this scan can help
These are some of the most common reasons for booking, though you don’t need a symptom to be seen. If any of these feel familiar, or you would simply like reassurance, you are in the right place.
A proactive annual check
One visit covering the organs men most often quietly worry about.
A milestone birthday
A documented baseline to compare against in future years.
Family history
Aneurysm, kidney disease or cancer in the family that makes surveillance sensible.
Several small niggles
Answer everything in one sitting rather than three appointments.
Lifestyle stocktake
Alcohol, weight, blood pressure: seeing the organs concentrates the mind.
Peace of mind
No symptom required: that is what a check is for.
Unsure which scan is right for you? Call 0203 904 4441 and a clinician will happily advise before you book.
What this scan can find
Your urological imaging specialist will be able to guide you through the entire process, after their clinical assessment.
Liver and gallbladder findings
Fatty change, gallstones, lesions: the full first-line survey.
Kidney and bladder findings
Stones, cysts and how completely the bladder empties.
The abdominal aorta
Measured for aneurysm: quick, and genuinely life-saving when it finds one early.
Testicular findings
Cysts, varicoceles and anything solid, examined as in the dedicated scan.
A documented baseline
Every organ measured and recorded for year-on-year comparison.
What it cannot tell you
A check is thorough but not exhaustive. It does not include prostate imaging (mpMRI is the right test there) or blood-based screening, and your specialist will say honestly where those fit for you.
Specialist-led scanning
Your private Male Health Check is performed by a urological imaging specialist doctor, from leading London hospitals. You’ll have your abdomen, kidneys, bladder and testicles scanned and explained to you in real time, and every appointment ends with a defined next step, agreed with you before you go.

on the screen in front of you, as the scan happens
Formal report and images accessed on your personal health portal
usually the same day, ready to share with your GP or specialist
Blood tests, including PSA, arranged if required

Referral recommendations when required
the right next step recommended and arranged for you, with your report in hand

0203 904 4441What happens during the scan
Your male health check begins with a short conversation about your health, any symptoms, family history and previous scans. Fasting and a comfortably full bladder give the clearest views.
A probe examines your liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and abdominal aorta, then your bladder and the size of your prostate. It is painless and radiation-free.
Samsung S85 Prestige: hospital-grade imaging
A brief, dignified scan of both testicles, with a towel for privacy, checks for lumps, cysts, varicoceles and blood flow.
Before you leave, the findings from every area are summarised face to face and a next step is agreed. Your combined report is on your secure portal the same day.

For the clearest view of the gallbladder. Water is fine.
Arrive with a comfortably full bladder

The male health check includes ultrasound of:
Many men book for peace of mind, a family history, a milestone birthday or simply because they have not been checked in years. It can find common conditions such as fatty liver, gallstones, kidney stones, an aortic aneurysm or a testicular lump early, when they are easiest to deal with.
Yes. Most men who book have no symptoms at all. If you do have symptoms, tell us so the scan can focus on them.
Common findings include fatty liver, gallstones, kidney cysts and stones, an enlarged prostate, testicular cysts and varicoceles. Most are benign and simply documented; anything that needs attention comes with a clear next step.
The male health check is an ultrasound assessment and does not include blood tests as standard. A PSA blood test for the prostate, along with cholesterol, liver and kidney tests, can be arranged at the same visit if you would like them.
A scan through the tummy measures the size of the prostate and how well the bladder empties, which helps explain urinary symptoms. It cannot rule out prostate cancer: that needs a PSA test and, if indicated, an MRI.
Ultrasound is the main test for a testicular lump and is very good at telling a harmless cyst from a solid lump that needs urgent review. Checking your own testicles monthly between scans is also important.
We keep it brief, professional and dignified: a towel covers you except for the small area being scanned, and the specialist explains what they are doing. A chaperone is always offered.
There is no single rule. Many men have a check every few years from their forties, or more often with a family history or known condition. Your specialist will suggest a sensible interval based on your findings, age and risk factors.
Alongside imaging, useful checks include blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, kidney and liver function, and, after discussion, a PSA test. In England, adults aged forty to seventy-four are also invited for a free NHS Health Check of heart and stroke risk every five years. The male health check adds a look at the organs themselves.
Many men book from their forties, or earlier with a family history of heart, bowel, prostate or testicular conditions. Men over sixty-five are invited for NHS aortic aneurysm screening; the check also measures the aorta.
Fast for four hours beforehand (water is fine), then drink about half a litre of water in the hour before so your bladder is comfortably full. Take your usual medication.
Allow around forty-five minutes, including a short conversation, the scans and time to explain the findings.
At Harley Street Ultrasound a private male health check costs £460, all fees inclusive: the abdominal, kidney, bladder and testicular ultrasound, the specialist’s time, and your combined report and images.
Your specialist tells you in the room, in plain English, and explains exactly what it means. You will never be sent home to wait for a letter. Most findings are benign and need nothing more than a sensible review date.
Anything that does need attention gets a clear, objective recommendation in your report: monitor, test further, or refer. Follow-up tests can usually be arranged at 99 Harley Street, often the same week, and those results are also explained to you personally.
No. Harley Street Ultrasound is a private clinic, so you can book a male health check in London directly online or by phone. No GP letter, no waiting list, and same-day or next-day appointments are usually available. If you are searching for a male health check near me from anywhere in central London, we are at 99 Harley Street, a short walk from Regent’s Park and Oxford Circus stations.
If you are wondering how much a private male health check costs, the answer is published before you book: £460, all fees inclusive: the examination, the specialist’s time, your written report and your images. Insured patients should bring a referral or authorisation number if their policy requires one.
Usually the same day: a Harley Street male health check comes with same-day results as standard, and you will already know the findings, because they are explained to you on screen during the appointment.
The written report is prepared by the specialist team and published to your secure patient portal together with your images, with measurements and a clear recommendation, ready to share with your GP or specialist.
Nothing special: there is no aftercare needed. You can eat, drive and go back to work straight away. Diagnostic ultrasound at these intensities has no confirmed adverse effects, which is why it can be repeated safely for monitoring. If your results suggest a next step, your specialist explains it before you leave.
Yes: completely. Coming to us privately never affects your NHS care. Our job is to get you answers quickly; if anything needs urgent attention, your specialist writes to your NHS GP recommending an urgent appointment, so you re-enter the NHS pathway with a diagnosis already in hand rather than joining the queue from the start.
